9983 – Irvine Scientific Sperm Washing Medium
Quinn´s Sperm Washing Medium is a modification of HEPES-buffered human tubal fluid, and was specifically developed for in vitro procedures involving sperm washing and incubation. Contains antioxidants beneficial for sperm quality and to decrease the amount of DNA damage.
Description:No patient had received any hormone therapy for at least 60 days preceding the study. Many methods have been developed for separating human spermatozoa from seminal plasma, including the swim-up SUP method, self-migration sedimentation, glass wool filtration, magnetic-activated cell sorting MACS , and the use of a density gradient medium [ 4 ]. Semen sample collection and preparation All semen samples were collected by masturbation after two to seven days of ejaculatory abstinence. When a semen sample is placed upon the upper-most isolate layer and centrifuged, any debris, round cells, non-motile and poor quality sperm remain in the top layers. This procedure takes 20 to 40 minutes. Sperm preparation medium removes the seminal plasma from the semen which otherwise causes uterine contraction.
